The Perfect Recirculating Canopy Cooker Hood for your Commercial Kitchen

Target’s wall mounted Carbo Clean® recirculating filtration canopy cooker hood offers a simple solution where there is a need to provide a means of air quality improvement to address the issues of cooking processes in light duty applications and provide adequate ventilation in commercial premises that are using limited all electrical equipment.

Its powerful built-in centrifugal fan overcomes filter resistance pulling contaminated air into the canopy collector and through the fire rated 3 or 5 stage filtration removable filter sets fitted within the recirculation filtration canopy hood, filtering the captured air of smoke, grease, fine particulate matter and odour. Once filtered, clean air can either be recirculated back into the kitchen with the simple twin header recirc crown, or can be connected to ducting routes and directed to the outside to provide partial air extraction if necessary to achieve the required number of air changes in accordance with Building Regulations.

Target supply and recommend the use of Vent Axia T Series fans or air conditioning systems in conjunction with the Carbo Clean® recirculating filtration canopy cooker hood. Vent Axia T Series fans are designed for window or wall mounting to provide passive supply air into and out of the premises with the option of powered air inlet and exhaust, as may be required to provide the necessary number of air changes in a commercial premises where ducting outside is not possible.

FAQ’S + MYTH BUSTERS

  • The Carbo Clean Recirc canopy is classed as ventless as it does not require an external exhaust point. Designed for light duty use with all electric equipment to filter and remove grease, smoke and odour from contaminated air produced via cooking processes. The Carbo Clean Recirc canopy recirculates the filtered air back into the room via the recirculation crown. The system does not remove heat produced from the cooking process and therefore the temperature within the kitchen should be controlled by an alternative method.

Please be aware that although the Carbo Clean Recirc canopy system reduces ventilation requirements, you will still need to ensure that you provide the necessary number of air changes required by law for an enlosed workplace this may be achieved for example, via air vents, wall/window fans or air conditioning systems.

  • To control heat and humidity you will need a secondary ventilation system. This is usually linked to a central Building Environment Management System or HVAC system.

  • No - you cannot under any circumstances use recirculating ventilation systems when using gas fired appliances for commercial use. By law gas fumes must be exhausted to atmosphere as they are dangerous and harmful to health.

  • Yes, the Carbo Clean Recirc canopy can be easily upgraded at any time from standard to advanced filtration if required.

  • The air flow rate or optimum extract flow rate required over equipment is determined by using the BESA industry standard DW/172:2018 thermal convection method of calculation applied to the equipment to be ventilated. Speak to us if you are unsure of your required air flow rate, we can calculate it for you.

Carbo Clean Recirc canopy air flow rates are based on the fan performance curves, pressure and flow characteristics relative to filter resistance, increasing as they do their job filtering impurities out of the air stream. For more fan performance information or to find out if the Carbo Clean Recirc meets your air flow rate requirements please ask.

  • To check suitability contact manufacturers Target Catering Equipment for advice and the preparation of site-specifc calculations to check suitability matched to your choice of equipment.

  • A specialist installer is not required. The Carbo Clean recirculation system can be installed by a competent person, provided the manufacturer’s installation instructions are followed and the correct tools and equipment are used.

For full installation details contact our sales team Call 01452 410 447 or Email enquiries@targetcatering.co.uk

  • A standard Carbo Clean Recirc canopy requires a minimum ceiling height of 2450mm. This height will allow for the 200mm recirculation crown on top of the canopy and the 250mm front valance. If you are height restricted within the room we can design and manufacture specials with reduced height outlets and front valance.

  • Filter sets are included and with the option of standard or advanced depending on the style of cooking and use the system is for. It is advisable to purchase spare replacement filter sets to hold in stock ready for when you need to replace them, but they are available for dispatch as spares typically on a 7-10 day turn around or on special overnight delivery by arrangement.

  • This will vary depending on the type of equipment you will be using with your system and how often it will be used.

Generally, you can see and feel when filters need changing as system performance reduces along with ventilation flow rates. Filter sets are front facing and can be easily removed to be washed and disposed of accordingly as they discolour catching effluent, becoming less effective.

If additional filter monitoring is required, we can offer an optional extra across filter pressure differential monitor which shows when filters require changing as another visual aid to when filters need cleaning and replacing. Please ask for more information on this optional extra.
